I’ve lived and worked in Oxfordshire for almost 40 years, and there are still places to explore things to try out. I own and operate Fowles Media, which I have been using as an umbrella for my little things on the side, such as Oxford Drones, DrainHub, and some other projects.
Naturally, after creating my own websites and similar projects, some things clicked into place. I never thought of myself as a tour guide or someone people come to for advice on where to go – at most, sometimes people might stop and ask for directions. But after seeing and being offered a similar website by an operator who builds a “copy & paste” template for places all over the place, I thought I could do a better and more helpful job as a local who works all over the county as well as into Buckinghamshire and a bit of Gloucestershire.
So I pulled together some stuff I know first hand about the best places to visit, researched what I wasn’t sure about and now I make a point of checking out any new stuff I find to add to Oxford Stay & Explore!
Our Aim for Oxford Stay and Explore
My aim for Oxford Stay & Explore is to not only pull together local places to visit, but places to stay for any budget or purpose and to highlight exciting new places to eat, special attractions and even places to walk the dog.
No Ads
As this is a passion Project, I intend to not use ads to finance this site as I want the user experience to be the highest priority. With this in mind, I’ve partnered with some platforms such Booking.com and similar vendors which may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you, the consumer. User Experience
As part of building Oxford Stay & Explore, our aim is to give an unbiased, verified opinion on anything we cover. We would love to hear your thoughts too, whether you’re a local or just visiting. This will help give more informed and unbiased information on anything and any place we cover!

Because of my work, I often cover places in and around Oxford in a variety of places, and as far as Didcot, Wantage, Witney, Banbury as well as far as Cirencester and various places in the Cotswolds, right on the doorstep of West Oxfordshire. I also often cover Buckinghamshire as far as Chesham, Beaconsfield, and of course Buckingham itself. Eventually places just outside Oxfordshire will be covered, too!
It’s not just work that gets me checking out all sorts of places, but having children and a dog, helps too. There are many National Trust Heritage sites in the area and we strive to explore lesser known places for walks and just generally exploring.
