Love Desserts, Bicester

We’ve seen this place on the corner of Crown Walk a few times as we walked through Sheep Street, and it’s always eye catching with its vibrant colours and classic diner look. Being the summer holidays and treating the kids after a long walk, we popped in to try it out…

We were lucky with it being a Wednesday, overcast afternoon and it wasn’t too busy in town or inside Love Desserts.
The selection was perfect for three kids of various ages and tastes, and the staff were all friendly, not just those serving.

I thought it was a local outfit but it turns out they originated in London and now have branches in Bicester (obviously), Abingdon and Banbury.

Who are Love Desserts?

Love Dessert is a dessert-focused brand that started in London. Known for its indulgent sweet treats, the brand quickly gained popularity for offering a wide range of desserts like waffles, crepes, sundaes, and milkshakes, all served in a vibrant and inviting diner-style atmosphere. Their success in London led to expansion into three parts of Oxfordshire.

Love Desserts Location

Located right on the corner of Crown Walk, which is close to Pioneer Square (where most people park when driving into Bicester town centre), Love Desserts is opposite the Post Office and near the end of Sheep Street nearest the Market Square car park.

This was our first visit to try the ice creams for the kids but I could not resist the cakes when I saw them – which is likely exactly why they were placed under the till area. The staff were welcoming and it wasn’t too busy. The town centre is getting known for being mostly barbers and coffee shops these days, so it was refreshing being able to try something like this.

Love Desserts Value for Money

I was expecting it to be a bit pricey to be honest, all the kids had a double scoop ice cream and then I had to have the slice of cake staring up at me… but it was around £12 for all for it. So I then expected tiny portions… and I was wrong again. The ice creams were perfectly sized and by all accounts, delicious (I wasn’t offered any, but the kids all agreed it was perfect).

The seating was very “classic American Diner,” in a good way and there’s plenty of space for prams, wheelchairs and groups of people.

Quality and Pricing

It’s worth saying again that the portion size for the price is really good, but also the quality doesn’t suffer.

I can only imagine this is to bring people back and create regular customers – and it’s working because now I know where to take the kids during the holidays or weekends for a treat that won’t break the bank. In an area where food and drink is pretty much Costa or Wetherspoons, Love Desserts really stands out.
(Nothing against Costa or Wetherspoons, they’re popular brands but when it’s your only choice, it gets rather limited).

Sitting in at Love Desserts

The friendly staff, classic diner vibes and good quality, high value for money food has already been covered, but overall the diner itself is spacious and clean. There are nice and wide, large windows facing both Sheep Street and Crown Walk as the unit is nestled in the corner.
It looks like some lighting fixtures are yet to be finished near the windows, but it doesn’t detract from the overall vibe and the windows provide more than enough lighting.

There is a customer toilet, I suspect a single unisex one but it isn’t a huge place so probably doesn’t need more.

Overall, with or without kids, Love Desserts in Bicester is a thoroughly recommended place to try out.
